I would like to wish my Muslim friends and customers Ramadan Mubarak. I hope you are all in the best of health.
Last week, I had an order for 200+ cupcakes for Teacher's Day. My customer gave me a free hand on the designs, so I took the opportunity to try several designs. In trying to satisfy different tastes, the cupcakes are covered in fondant, butter cream and chocolate ganache. Took me 2 whole days to decorate, not including the baking and making some of the flowers. But the end product was so satisfying, what more the teachers love them! Thank you so much Regina for the order. Here are the photos.
This is actually a durian cheese cake for a grandmother (Nani). I had some flowers left over from the cupcakes so I used them on the cake. I think this is the third time she ordered durian cheese cake. Thanks Warin for your continuous support!
This cake is for one of my loyal customers. Her cousin ordered the cake, with complete instructions of the deco. Makes it a lot easier for me. The birthday girl delayed the cutting of the cake as long as possible! May you have many more happy birthdays Hairiah!
The picture of the cat was so cute I couldn't resist putting it on the cupcakes.
I made shepherd's pie for breaking fast on the 1st day of Ramadan. Just trying to see how it would like in smaller portions.
Till the next update, take care of your health!

I tried to be more disciplined...instead of waiting for available time, I tried to squeeze in what I have to do. Hence this morning, I uploaded some more photos before I go to work.
This is the latest photo - a set of cupcakes (my customer wants red flowers) to be given to her hostess. Chocolate truffle with chocolate ganache and chocolate shavings at the side. A small cake ordered by my neighbour.
My colleague's birthday falls on National Day; so I gave her these cupcakes with red and white flowers...and a small durian filling sponge cake below.
I had some leftover mousse from the chocolate truffle cake, so I put them in these cups and decorate with chocolate pieces. I wanted to put fruits but there were none in the fridge then....
I made this cake for my birthday and brought to office to share with my colleagueas. I wanted to try the chocolate mould that I bought to cover the sides of the cake. It didn't turn out as expected - you can hardly see the white pattern over a chocolate background.
I tried the chocolate mould another time - this time it's much better - the design in white can be seen. It's actually a sponge cake with custard/fruit cocktail filling. I think I put too much filling :-))
Another small cake - the customer wants a "Rolex watch" for her father-in-law. Takes me quite some time to find the right photo and to craft the cake. Half-way thro I felt like giving up, but when I saw the final product..well not too bad I thought. Anyway It's always much easier to do bigger cakes than small ones (hint..hint..:-))
The customer wants something purple - I showed him some designs and he chose this (well the actual design looks something like this...). What looks like blue is actually purple. I was very grateful for the trust he has in me because he has never ordered from me & yet he is willing to order something special for his fiance. Thank God he was pleased with the cake.
This cake is supposed to look like a cut-up onion - had a difficult time doing it, not really satisfied with the result.
Durian cheesetarts with a cake base in small cupcakes. My daughter said it tasted like durian ice-cream. Great for durian lovers!!
The customer wanted a small heart-shaped mango cake (enough for two) for his girlfriend's birthday. Normally I don't make small cakes, but this is his second order and I don't like to disappoint my customers...
A birthday cake from my colleageau to her nephews..
Tuesday, August 18th, 2009
Hi there! It's been almost 2 months since my last entry. I'm so, so sorry to disappoint some of you who are looking forward to photos of cakes you ordered and new updates. To continually say that I'm busy is a lame excuse.... Hwr the delay this time is partly due to my laptop not performing - it was so slow that I gave up using it. Send it to my friend for upgrading..then the part was out of stock..sigh..
Anyway here are some new photos...
These are chocolate walnut brownies, cut into 1in squares, brought them to my brother's place. I tried putting these tiramisu cheese tarts in small cupcakes - look better than pastry tarts..
A small gift for a colleague's birthday...(last minute thing) Glad that she liked it.
The writings are in Tagalog - the guy is a Filipino, leaving his job in SIA - to "plant sweet potatoes"..ha..ha..(hence the sweet potatoes border round the cake)
Another farewell cake - could not get the suitable plane picture in time, hence the "toy" plane
The customer wanted cupcakes in various designs - she left it up to me.... How wonderful to be given a free hand on the deco..Thanks Regina...
Chocolate walnut engagement cake...Thanks Sharifah...Take care...
Birthday cake for a husband who loves golf..with similar theme cupcakes. Enjoyed doing this..
The couple both ordered engagement cakes from me - quite similar but different. Thanks so much to Ruqayyah & Fadhil..
The customer actually gave me the design - with purple, baby blue & baby pink colours. She was so pleased with the result. I wonder why the purple colour in the photo does not look as nice as the real thing...
This is a small cake for a mother-in-law. The small piece on top of the ""R"" is supposed to be a crown. I was not really happy with it..should have bought a crown accessory...
The girl wanted cupcakes for her mom's birthday - with pink and green colours. The alphabets are made from white chocolate. How lucky is the mother !
Another photo image cake

One of my loyal customers ordered the following three cakes for Father's Day. This is a 1kg coffee walnut cake.
This is a 1/2kg sponge cake with durian filling. She had requested for the cake to look like a durian because her dad loves durian. I was quite happy at how the cake turned out. She was really pleased - with the taste & look of the cake. Thank God...
This is the third cake ordered, a 3kg coffee walnut cake to celebrate Father's Day at Al-Istiqamah mosque.
Thanks Hairiah for all the cake orders and the lovely comments you gave. May Allah bless you.
This cake I made for my brothers, brother-in-law & father at a gathering at my brother's place. It was a chocolate cake with fresh cream and durian filling. It was a simple design as I was too tired that day.
A request from my colleague for her friend who loves pink. This is a small 1kg sponge cake with strawberry filling. Happy to know that her friend likes the cake.

A simple wedding cake as a gift for a newly-married couple. Thanks Regina for the order.
My first chocolate fondant cupcakes order by a friend for a "hantaran"gift. I was so excited. The hot weather didn't make it easier to make the chocolate roses - I had to make them in an aircon room, but the results were most satisfying. Thanks Kak Long for the order. I hope you like the cupcakes.
These are some of the white chocolate roses that I made. The photos of the brown ones did not turn out too well..maybe because of the dark colour...
These are some of the cakes that I didn't have the time to upload earlier. The following three photo image cakes were ordered by the same person. Even during her wedding, she remember to order cakes for her loved ones. May God bless you Hairiah!
This cake was a double order, together with the topsy-turvy cake posted earlier. Thank you so much Jaclyn..
A simple chocolate cake for my nephew's birthday...
Engagement cake for my aunt's son to be given to the girl's side - it was nice to know that she delayed cutting the cake because she found it so pretty :-)
Another cupcake order for a birthday.
Chocolate truffle for my elder son's birthday. He requested for the cake after he had tasted the one I brought home from a cake class. Happy happy birthday dear Muhd. I love you !

This is the cake I did for our chocolate fondant class - a climax to the 4 modules of cake decorating I took since Feb last year. At last, I've graduated! Thank God!
I'm no expert but I did learn a lot of things. This cake I did is a two-tier chocolate cake. I wanted to do a three-tier cake, but I had orders for 4 cakes & so had little time to do the cakes for my class. Anyway I'm quite satisfied.
This is my teacher, Kak Norsini. She's posing with all the chocolate fondant cakes her students did for their last class. We did different designs so that we can learn from each other. My cake is one on the top right - see if you can spot it.
An order from one of my loyal customers - her husband is a Liverfool fan; obvious isn't it? May your marriage be a happy one Hairiah! Wishing you all the best !
Together with 2 others, we went to KL to learn cupcake decorating from Jun of Cupcakekasih. I've always loved her designs I saw on Flickr (even copied some of them..hee..hee). When I learnt that she conducts classes, I immediately got in touch with her. Below are the figurine designs for the advance class.
Here are the designs for the basic fondant class. We took two days to learn - Monday for the basic class and Tuesday for the advance class. KL is not near you know, so why not do both classes back-to-back? Anyway we enjoyed the classes (10.30 am to about 5pm) and had fun. Thank you so much Jun for sharing your knowledge with us. May Allah bless you.
We had a family gathering in early May & I made a Mother's Day cake. Below is a photo of my mom, my sisters-in-law, my sister and myself, all mothers!
Ánd here's the Mother's Day cake. I forgot the flavour of the cake, but the flowers and leaves are made from fondant. I get the design from the cakes I saw at internet. Took me some time to make the flowers which are of different colours, shapes & sizes, but I'm very satisfied at how it turned out - very colourful!
Saturday, May 23rd 2009
Wow....it's been more than a month since my last update...what with working in the daytime, making cakes at night (not all nights though), baking and making cakes, and attending cake classes during the weekends...that leaves me little time to write. Gives the impression that I'm pretty busy huh? Actually I need to manage my time better, that's all....
Ok, now to update on the cakes that I did, actually some of the cakes that I did since the last update. (Due to time constraints, I'm not able to update all).
This one is a chocolate cake wrapped in chocolate fondant, with chocolate handmade roses. I learnt this last week, as part of my Module 4 cake decorating course.
These are the cupcakes wrapped in chocolate fondant and decorated with chocolate roses. I was so happy, so satisfied that I have now learnt chocolate fondant and how to make the chocolate roses. The decorated cupcakes are so pretty to look at...
I had a request to make this topsy-turvy cake for a 21st birthday. I've never made such a cake before and I was thrilled to be given a chance to do this cake. I always like something new, and I surf the internet often to get ideas. It gave me great satisfaction to do this cake...felt even better when my customer wrote to say that she, her family and friends love the cake and will be doing referrals. Thank you so much Jaclyn for the order of the cakes. May you have a wonderful year ahead!
I did not do much baking for Mother's day-this is one of the few orders that I received. The customer ordered similar cakes for her mother and mother-in-law. How sweet (and fair..) Thanks Hairiah..you are such a sweet girl..and a loyal customer.
I had made a similar cake last year. it's only when I saw the names that I realised it was from the same person...celebrating her first wedding anniversary. The order was through my husband's niece, that was why I did not realised at first.
This time there was no motorbike, but I put in the umbrellas & the mats. The cake was much bigger too - more than 3kg.
Thanks Aisah for the order. It was a great compliment for me to do the same design again. I wish you many happy years of marriage.
A friend had one order too many and request my help to do this "book cake". Since I've never done one, I had to buy the pan. Anyway, I took up the challenge....it was not really easy...quite challenging too. By the way, the colour blue was chosen by the customer, a bit unusual but interesting choice of colour.
This wedding cake order came through my son, for his friend's brother. The silver ribbon was their choice of colour. To make it look brighter (grey is quite a dull colour), I used pearl dust.
May the couple had a wonderful marriage.
Another guitar cake - to me this is one of the diificult cakes to do. I did not use any pan, but cut the guitar shape myself. Then I had to do the chocolate pattern on white buttercream (no joke..) and do the strings. I used ribbon and had to ensure that they run parallel to each other. But I'm satisfied with the result..and so is the customer; that's what matters - you forget all the hard work when your customers compliment and give positive feedback.
I had a request for a white cake - white signifies purity. I love the simplicity of the design.

It's been almost a month since my last updates. I was hoping to put in more photos (nice ones only :-)) and that's why it took quite some time.
This one is an order that came through the email. At first he wanted a three-tier cake, but because of a tight budget, we decided on 2-tier. He even gave me a photo to copy from and I make some adjustments - the nos at the top and the frills at the bottom. The birthday girl even get to choose the flavour-chocolate walnut for the bottom tier and suji cake for the top. I hope they are happy with the cake. Thanks Sean for the trust you have in me. I enjoyed decorating the cake!
Birthday cupcakes-an order from my friend's daughter. I got the idea for the deco from the internet - should not take full credit for it :-) Thanks Ain for the order. Hope your friend likes it.
Sacher cake with simple sweet design for a mother's and grandma's birthday. Thanks Dora for your order. I've lost count on the no of cakes you have already ordered from me -:)
My husband's friend came from Batam to have her daughter warded in a hospital here. Baked her a small cake to cheer her up when she was discharged. She happily brought the cake back to Batam !
Tried a recipe I found in the internet, using nutella. My daughter kept eating them even before I piped the buttercream on top. Delicious, she said.
A dear friend from Batam came to Singapore to accompany a sick relative seeking treatment here. It happened to be her birthday, but I only managed to bake a cake a few days later. Anyway it was a lovely surprise for her!

I hope you reading this are in good health. The weather has been quite extreme these few days - very hot in the afternoon and then heavy rains in the evening.. So do take care..
Yesterday I had to wait for the heavy rain to stop before I was able to deliver the cake shown below. It was ordered by an aunt for a cousin's birthday. She wanted a big cake (it was 3.3kg) and taste nice (I made Sacher cake - chocolate cake with almonds and buttercream which has jam in it).
This was one of 3 photo cakes I made during the weekend. It was about 3.3kg too (13in square). Thanks Zarina for the order. I hope the cake is enough to feed all the family members at the resort.
Another photo cake-the customer knows what she want - coffee walnut and petal shape too. Happy Birthday Radziah! You're lucky to have a friend like Hairiah :-)
This is another cake ordered by Hairiah-a birthday cake is for four people . Thank you so much Hairiah for the two orders. It was great of you to organise both birthday functions. May Allah bless you!
A simple design for chocolate cheese cake - Khadijah, you finally get to eat it!
Wednesday, March 4, 2009
Last week was quite a hectic one for me. There was a big "project" for my cake class which practically occupy my nights the whole of last week. More about the big "project" later.
This photo cake was ordered by Azlina for her friend, Julie. The photo was a black-and-white one & Julie was quite happy with the cake. Thanks Azlina for the order. Wishing Julie & fiance all the best. If you need a wedding cake, just let me know :-)
A colleague ordered this cake with a Barbie theme. As her daughter loves strawberry, I use strawberry filling for this sponge cake and fresh strawberries on the cake. Many happy returns to Firzanah! Thanks Nazihah for the order. You're one of my loyal customers!
This is part of the big "project" I mentioned earlier. They are sugarpaste orchids which I learnt in class. I used these flowers on the cake that I made. Funny how the purple flower looked blue on camera.
The big "project" - a 3tier wedding cake, all three chocolate cakes covered in fondant. I saw the design on the internet and made some changes. In total the cake weigh a hefty 13kg!
Till the next update, take care and be mindful what you eat. Bye for now!

February 14th is my daughter's birthday. She turned 17 this year. My, my.... how time flies. It seems that only a few years ago that she was my little baby girl, with her winsome smile and curly hair. Now she's a grown-up girl, preparing to go to Polytechnic, confident and knows what she wants (she even picked her own present!). She requested for this cake too - actually it's chocolate ice-cream, simply decorated with the words of her choice. Happy happy birthday Faatimah dear. I love you very much!
This is actually a marble cake - just before it goes into the oven.
This is the marble cake - Optima Rainbow , after it was baked. I love how the colours turn out. Thanks Roz for the order! My cousin ordered this Nutty Chocolate Gatteau at the last minute - for Valentine's Day to surprise her husband. Thanks Dillah! May you always be happy with your hubby and the 3 little darlings. Take care.
I would also like to thank those who have ordered the Valentine's cupcakes from me. May you and your loved ones be happy together.(live happily ever after ;))
Oh yeah... I promised exciting news at the last update.
I have had many requests from relatives, friends, customers and those who visited my blog asking me if I open classes. Up till now, my answer had always been "No" because I feel there is still a lot for me to learn. I'm no expert, just someone who loves to bake.
I'm very happy to say now that I am opening classes to teach pastries and cakes. I'm not saying that now I have learnt everything I want to know (learning never ends...I'm still attending classes), but I want to share my knowledge and experience (and the problems I faced ;-)).
It will be a small class, with a group of 2 to 4 persons and it will be hands on. You can choose what you want to learn - either 2 types of pastries or 1 cake per session. You will get to bring home the pastries that you bake or a small cake (6-8in). The classes will be held during weekends when I'm available and will be at my home at Bedok North.
So if you are interested..don't delay. Call me at 9838 1397. Till then, take care and make the most use of your time!

I have been quite busy lately and was down with a bad flu and cough the last couple of days. Hence this update was slightly delayed. This was a cake I presented to a friend on her wedding day. It was a last minute thing, hence the design was quite simple. Anyway, my best wishes to Suzana. May she be happy with her new husband.
My colleague ordered this cake for his brother's wedding. I was given a photo of the brother's motorbike and another photo from the internet. It was not as easy as I thought, but I'm quite pleased with the result. Thanks Rafil for the order. May your brother have a happy marriage!
Last Saturday, another colleageau ordered this large(4kg) suji cake for her son's birthday. Her son loves dinosaurs, but I could not find any dinosaur figureines (?) on time but I did find these lovely colourful stickers. Thanks Nazihah for the order. Hope your son likes the cake!
The day before I felt sick, I made this cake at a cake class (ya...still learning..). It was part of a 2-tier buttercream wedding cake. The buttercream was great as it didn't melt although left outside the fridge for a couple of days. I didn't had much time to look for a nicer design, but I think I didn't do too badly on this one.
I have some exciting news to share...please wait for my next update... In the mean time, take care!

I would like to wish all my Chinese friends a very Happy Lunar New Year. May the year ahead be filled with joy, happiness and prosperity.
I had an order for some cupcakes with Chinese New Year theme. It was indeed fun & I love decorating the cakes. It is more rewarding when my customer loves the cupcakes. Thanks Regina for the order!
Last week, I had a last minute order from a mom for her daughter's birthday. She wanted 23 cupcakes for her daughter's 23rd birthday. I offerred 2 more (one big box fits exactly 25 cupcakes). Luckily, I had extra cupcakes and need only do the decoration. Happy Birthday Aziela! May you find happiness and joy! You're such a lucky girl! Thanks Anisah for the order..You're a wonderful mom! Last Saturday, we had a gathering at my place together with my siblings. We had prayers and then a barbeque. Made this ice-cream cake for my nieces, Shifak & Zulfah. It was a simple design as I had to do another cake that day. Happy birthday girls! Hope you like the presents Faatimah gets for you..... Redbean Icecream cake

For this year, I've decided to add a new post, "Updates". I hope to update it at least once a week. Here, I will post photos of new cakes and pastries (new "products" I call them). In addition, there will be promotions for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Teacher's Day... so do look out for them.
Some of my friends and customers have kept asking me to open classes...so I will start soon ...still making some peparations. Do lookout for the classes under this post.
Nutty Chocolate Gatteau
This cake is a birthday "gift" for my colleague, Asiah on her birthday 7 Jan. This is a chocolate cake, made differently from the usual chocolate cakes. The special part is that it has 3 types of nuts - walnuts, hazelnuts & pistachios - not only on top that you see but also inside, and covered all over with chocolate ganache..ummmm
To Asiah, semoga diampunkan segala dosa, panjang umur, murah rezki & bahagia disamping keluarga. You are a wonderful person!
